Margaret Mary Glasgow
Margaret Mary was born in Limerick, Ireland to Rian and Margaret Glasgow.
Mary Margaret is very proud of her Limerick heritage, in particular, her grandfather, Frank Glasgow, Mayor of Limerick City during the years 1961-62 having been first elected to the city council in 1950. He succeeded Donogh O'Malley.
Margaret Mary's Catholic upbringing has guided her spiritual and poetic path in life, while her love of the English language was inspired from an early age. Nature, nurture, family, friendship, faith and life experiences are the foundation stones of her first poetry collection.
What they said:
Margaret Mary has the capacity to make the mundane special. Love, loss, suffering and joy are the inspirational forces that drive her creativity. We sense a constant quest for self and a battle to overcome insecurities. Approval is essential to her being. To love is to avoid setting limits or judgement in place, Many of her poems are very lyrical and filled with human warmth and frailty.
- Máirtín Ó Briain (Editor - Flowers and Thorns of Life)
Margaret Mary Glasgow's first collection deals with life issues. Both her own and relationships with family and friends. In these poems, she explores the ups and downs of emotions, which we all experience and are aptly reflected in the title.
